Anne Hathaway (born November 12, 1982) is an American actor and an Academy Award winner from New York City. In addition to winning an Oscar, her various award victories as a performer include a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Film Award and an Emmy Award.

Hathaway's acting breakthrough came in 2001 with the release of Disney's "The Princess Diaries," in which played Mia Thermopolis. She reprised the role in the sequel, "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" (2004). Her success in family movies continued with the release of "Ella Enchanted" (2004). Hathaway jumped to more serious-minded drama with a supporting role in Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain" (2005), which was nominated for best picture at the Oscars. After starring opposite Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada" (2006), which was a box office hit with $326 million worldwide, Hathaway earned her first Oscar nomination for best actress by starring in Jonathan Demme's family drama "Rachel Getting Married" (2008). Her career hit new peaks in 2012 when she starred as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," which remains her highest-grossing movie with $1 billion worldwide, and as Fantine in "Les Misérables," which won her the Academy Award for best supporting actress. Hathaway is also known for her comedy films, which include "Get Smart" (2008), "Bride Wars" (2009), "The Intern" (2015), "Ocean's 8" (2018) and "The Hustle" (2019). Her television work includes the Apple TV+ series "WeCrashed," co-starring Jared Leto.
