Hopewell edits Variety’s international E-Show Dailies and writes features and news articles about the international film and TV business. Prior to joining Variety in 1995, he programmed a Spanish cinema season cycle for London’s National Film Theater, wrote for Stills and Screen International and served as Moving Pictures’ European Editor. He has written two books on the Spanish cinema: “Out of the Past,” published by the British Film Institute, and “El cine español después de Franco,” from Spain’s Fundación Ortega y Gasset. He likes going up mountains though, fast physically maturing, he likes even more coming down.
